The Erdogan regime systematically silences the opponents.

Nuri Başkapan wanted to send a protest letter to Erdogan through the public Notary, but the police detained him.

Nuri Başkapan, an Istanbul city dweller, wanted to send a protest letter; he wrote in the Protest letter, "I do not recognize and accept your presidency" because of Erdoğan's hostile words during the election period. However, the Notary reported the situation to the police, and an investigation was launched against Başkapan for allegedly insulting the President.

His testify received at the police station.
Police officers came to the Notary and took Başkapan to the Sarıyer Police Station. An "insulting the President" case was launched against Başkapan after he was questioned at the police station.

Başkapan reacted in this situation and said, "I did not insult. As a citizen, I wanted to send a legal protest to the President. The reasons for this are written in my protest letter," he said.

The relevant police department has informed the prosecutor's office. Başkapans' statement was taken and released by the prosecutor's order hours later. But the insulting case against him is still open, and he will probably get charged soon.

The pressure on dissidents in Turkey and the investigations launched by the regime continue unabated. The erosion of human rights and freedom of expression is reaching more alarming levels every day.

I support Mr. Nuri Başkapan and underline that he is not alone.
